What are Mind-Body Medicine Small Groups?

Mind-Body Medicine small groups are interactive, experiential small groups that teach mind-body techniques for increased health and wellness.  I am a strong believer in
the small group format for learning mind-body skills techniques after seeing firsthand its transformative power on participants. The self-care techniques learned in the eight-week program enable participants to improve health by reducing stress, anxiety and illness, increase immune function, sense of well-being, and to better handle life’s challenges.

During the eight-week session, you will learn mind-body techniques such as:
  -Stress reduction
  -Meditation
  -Breathing to engage relaxation response
  -Mindful eating
  -Guided imagery
  -Biofeedback
  -Autogenics and more.

Each small group is limited to a maximum of ten participants.  The groups are led with didactic learning, experiential learning, and group support. The techniques learned in the small group sessions were developed by James Gordon, M.D., founder of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine. The groups use scientifically-validated methods to improve health. Please see the list of reference articles on the Workshop tab.

Mind-Body Medicine small groups are not therapy groups.  However, the sharing and connecting in the small group process creates a wonderful learning experience, helping indivuals become more self-aware and engaged in their own self-care.  You will never be forced to share beyond your comfort level.
